Course Goals
course is explicitly designed as an accelerated learning class, pairing individualized ELL coursework with college-level coursework to help students develop their college level reading and writing skills.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify main idea and supporting details in college level essays and articles from outside sources
Draw inferences from readings that lead to class discussion
Demonstrate techniques for vocabulary acquisition and expansion
Conduct research using HFC library databases
Integrate information from outside sources into essays by correctly using in-text citations
Evaluate the credibility of sources found on the internet
Revise work after collaboration with other students and/or suggestions from the instructor
Minimize errors in grammar and mechanics
