Assessment of academic achievement will be identified and implemented by the class instructor. Methods will include, but not be limited to, assignments, individual and/or group projects, quizzes, tests, and a final exam.

Instructors should provide students with a wide range of readings (both narrative and expository) including short stories, poems, news articles, and content-area textbook chapters, with ample opportunity for discussion and analysis of author’s purpose, patterns of organization, and strategies.

All students are required to take a final exam (worth 25% of the final class grade).
