Course Goals
course is designed to help English Language Learners (ELL) attain intermediate-level reading, listening, and speaking skills in order to understand more clearly and communicate more effectively in English.

Reading comprehension strategies including connecting, questioning, predicting, paraphrasing and summarizing
Locating and identifying topics, main ideas, and supporting details in authentic written and audio sources
Author’s or speaker’s message, audience and purpose
Textbook reading strategies, guided note taking, and active learning strategies used with written and audio sources
Vocabulary and idiom study
Academic discussion and presentation skills
