Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate appropriate use of punctuation and capitalization.
Identify and practice subordinate, relative, and main clauses.
Formulate sentences using regular and irregular verbs in the simple past and present; past and present continuous, and future tenses.
Distinguish between and correctly use definite and indefinite articles.
Identify and use adjective and adverb clauses to add descriptive detail.
Generate statements, imperatives, and questions using correct word order.
Compose a paragraph comprised of a topic sentence with a controlling idea, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.
Discriminate and categorize new vocabulary into correct parts of speech.
Plan, draft, revise, and proofread a single paragraph.
Show evidence of ability to analyze and write for different audiences.
